Mushrooms, Mindfulness and Microdosing: Connecting people to food and medicine with Adam Duke
In this class we will review types of popular edible and medicinal mushrooms that can be foraged locally (in and around Michigan) with hands-on examples to pass around and share. Everyone will have the opportunity to see, feel and get up close with fungi they may only be familiar with from pictures. Additionally, we will explore mindfulness through short guided meditation and by discussing wild harvesting techniques and what to look for when buying mushrooms at the store or market. Shiitake/ Lion’s Mane logs, inoculated wood chips and other easy home cultivation techniques will be explained and shared.
The final component covers Microdosing, what it is and isn’t. The term Microdosing has become popular lately and we will dive into the reality of its use, the science, and the studies. Our discussion will cover different ingredients and effective protocols that are commonly used. Everyone will have a chance to leave with some non-psychoactive Lynx Everyday Microdose Caps, a Reishi, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, and Turkey Tail mushroom blend.
Born and raised in Michigan, Adam has a deep love for the outdoors, the magic of our seasons and all aspects of nature (beside ticks). As a citizen scientist/ mycologist he is excited to share his experience of over ten years of mushroom cultivation, along with observation and hunting skills, and the benefits and effects of fungi that we can find locally in our region. Having seen countless people’s lives improve and hearing incredible stories of relief inspired him to join the Lynx Caps team in order to educate on the difference of beyond organic, lab tested, medicinal mushrooms blends for our commmhity to bring relief, help heal, transform lives and foster success. Through working with dozens of individuals on their individual microdosing jouneys, he is exited to share techniques, thought provoking journaling prompts, and methods to get the most out of the medicine. His aim is to inspire others to be more observant of nature and mindful by opening eyes to the fantastic world of fungi for food, medicine, and fun.
