Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey are a progressive Bluegrass band and bond between brothers in music. Composed of Aaron Brooks (Guitar), Thayer Niemi (Upright Bass), Rob Wardell (Mandolin), and Jayson Brooks (Banjo), their music is layered and lovable, human and huggable. Dance, be merry, be joyful, be free! Aaron Brooks is both raspy and real, lending his journey to songs which will help you feel; music is the universal language; sound has the power to heal.  Rapid Nu-Grass with space to breathe; a reminder that if it’s holding you back, perhaps it’s time to take a breath and let it go. Rooted in spiritual alignment with this earth, their message is hopeful, accessible, and actively being written as they spread their wings, soaring to, upon, and through this Great Lakes region.

Through pursuit and prowess they have ascended to great heights, sharing bills with Yonder Mountain String Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Henhouse Prowlers, Dixon’s Violin, Arkansauce, Full Cord, Mark Lavengood, and Escaping Pavement. With the right attitude, work ethic, and gratitude, they’ve reached cruising altitudes, touching down along the Michigan festival circuit at Arts Beats & Eats, Divine Pine Gathering, White Birch Music Festival, High Times Cannabis Cup, Rockin’ on the Riverfront, Tamarack Music Festival, Country Roots Music Festival, and Michigan Glass Project.

Milan Anderson

Milan is a folksy singer/songwriter with shades of blues and jazz. She has been known for singing soothing songs that accompany a distinctive finger picking style. A recent collaboration with blues guitarist, Peter Phillip has added to the fire, and now they are eager to bring a wide array of both electric, groove-worthy songs and acoustic, cello inspired works to lift the spirit and soothe the soul.

Milan first started playing classical piano and cello early in life. Her musical upbringing--dad is a professional bass player for a living--helped pave the way for her to eventually set off on her own and start writing music on guitar and exploring different genres of music including delta blues, jazz and traditional folk in early adulthood. Her classical roots still show themself within her finger-picking guitar style underneath melodic, ethereal singing. Traveling and farming throughout her early adulthood, she drew from these experiences to write songs. Recently, while living at Frog Holler Farm, she recorded a single/music video called home! a song about reconnecting to place, and also honoring indigenous peoples who have fought to protect their lands in what can be a cruel world. Over the past year, Milan has revisited original songs amidst a new, exciting collaboration with guitarist Peter Phillip, an established musician in his own right who has toured and played with a collection of indie-rock bands in the midwest. Together, they’ve sought to bring the songs into a more groovy, blues and rock sphere. They are a fairly new collaboration with hopes and dreams of bringing their tunes to people all across Michigan.

Greater Alexander Trio

”Born in New York, raised in Greece and is currently residing in Greater Detroit, Michigan. As a resident of Assemble Sound, he uses natural reverb to record in spaces around Detroit while infusing classical and acoustic guitars, piano, African and Latin percussion instruments to color the music and create an Indie-world folk genre similar to Jack Johnson intertwined with José González, Trevor Hall, Mike Love, Nick Drake, Jason Mraz and Paul Simon. Greater Alexander’s vocal tonality and falsetto was found through insight received by the recordings of Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Thom Yorke of Radiohead. Each song travels to far distances yet steadily walks a steady narrow road. The path to achieving a dream can be a long, arduous journey. On it, you see remnants of those that have traveled before you. You see lost hope and altered courses. Indie-folk artist, Greater Alexander, has seen all of that and more. Love is his fuel and spreading it is his goal.” - Gary Bartle

Zico

Soulful, heart-centered, music that allows you to sway and think about what matters to you most.

Hey! My name is Zico. I grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, and reside in Ypsilanti. I am a soulful songwriter inspired by great feelings of love. I see myself as a vessel through music and I strive to create spaces in which people can feel their own personal inspirations and to be fully in their heartspace. Being barefoot outdoors in the mud, sharing music, celebrating life, and opening our hearts is what the world needs more of. I am making it a goal to put myself in more of those situations as I go and grow. I intend to bring my whole soul. I am honored to be at such a heart centered gathering. Join me and help me create some magic!

Sierra Gale

Sierra's music was born in a time when she thought she couldn't sing anymore. She started writing music when she left theater and escaped humanity, the best she could and retreated into nature. Throughout her journey she hoped to come back to humanity to share her mystical, nature and loving songs with her angelic voice. She had no idea when her music would be, or could be well received. It seemed to her that many were caught up in the rat race of life, but when covid hit, she realized how much music and her music, was actually needed. Her intimate raw voice over simple ukulele is the kind of intimacy she feels most long for. She is excited to share her heart with yours through the vibration of song. Sometimes she even throws in some improv/freestyle to connect better with her audience!

Sierra is a 29 year old Michigan native, who has lived in a few other states, Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina. She really began writing while in North Carolina. She grew up in Lenawee County, is a spiritual seeker and lover. Has a degree in Interpreting History and Nature and enjoys many hobbies, art forms and humans, alike!

Dani Darling

Druzy singer-songwriter, producer, and band leader from Ann Arbor MI. She has been an artist to watch, graced the cover of the Metro Times, and released her most recent Pyschedelic Soul EP "The Future", earning her a Detroit Music Award Nomination. The current set is proggy, and psychedelic, but still very indie soul. We do some funk, some bossa nova, and of course ethereal vibey moments. Dani (guitar/lead vox), Joel (lead guitar), Raven (bass), Taylor (drums), James (flute), Emory (sax)
