Mushroom Dye Workshop (2 hours)

Learn about the art of dyeing with Mushrooms & Lichen. Join us for the day as we engage with natural dyes. The lecture will include basic mushroom anatomy, identification and the chemistry behind fungal dyes. Hands-on experience will be offered along with a mushroom foray where we will go over hunting skills on where and how to search for your own dye mushrooms. Everyone will go home with their very own mushroom dyed silk scarf. We hope to see you there!

Tess Burzynski is a Science degree graduate from Wayne State University, she works as a Soil Scientist and continues doing research with Mycoremediation in the city of Detroit. Her love of Fungi began in her early years exploring the outdoors. She is a member of the Michigan Mushroom Hunters Club and the North American Mycological Association. Throughout her studies she has learned the role mycelium plays in the environment and how beneficial, tenacious and magical it truly is. Through Fungi Freights, her goal is to educate Detroit and its surrounding neighbors about the benefits fungi have on health, food security and the environment.

Forest Flower Crown Making Class

Come make Forest Flower Crowns with us! We’ll be creating whimsical, beautiful, non-binary crowns. The items will be sourced sustainability, free of chemicals, and 100% compostable.risus diam.

Ashten is a graphic designer, hobby farmer, and wild mushroom expert. Heather is a mixed media artist, baker, herbalist and rescues animals. Together, we’re a mother/daughter team, creating beautiful earth inspired art and hand-crafted goods.

Mandala Creation Workshop

Take a dive into the basics of Mandala making and tapping into your own creative flow process. Attendees will work on their own and in a group, while exploring how to create these beautiful radial designs. Invitation to bring your own paper medium/journal and drawing utensils for work together. Paper & utensils will be provided for those that need it. Work with another type of medium? You are also welcome to bring supplies for individual work time.

Suzy Adra is an artist, certified yoga instructor, energy healing practitioner, and trauma release practitioner. She facilitates somatic movement and creative process workshops that inspire to embrace one's creative abilities. She is the founder of Bīja Healing Sanctuary in Rocca Massima, Italy andArtkeyTypes, a therapeutic psychosomatic painting process. She holds a Ph.D. in Transformative Studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Ukrainian talisman and sacred herbs workshop

Join Nina of loveren collections for a special workshop diving into sacred perennial plants, ritual, and talisman making. Participants will be learning how to make a traditional Ukrainian motanka talisman while learning of 5-10 sacred perennial plants of western Ukraine. Foraged treats and materials provided. Sliding scale available with options to bring your own cloth to use for talisman.

Nina Lawrin is a Ukrainian-American ethnobotanist, urban forager, permaculture designer, creator, and folk herbalist. Her ancestry lies within Western Ukraine (Hutsul, and Kliene Esche, Hildesheim, Germany; influencing her teachings and understandings of ecological knowledge retention through immigration across generations. She is the owner of loveren collections; an experience dedicated to education and re-connection to nature through everyday wild perennial foods in the Midwest. Her brand Everyday Forage provides wild perennial foods to Chicagoans through seasonal subscription boxes and educational foraging tours. Nina is a Fulbright alumna to Namibia. She has worked alongside numerous permaculture sites including Eloolo Permaculture Initiative and Damaraland Farming Cooperative, cultivating their “waste streams” to share and create nontoxic, research-driven, site-specific artwork. She started her foraging journey learning from the San community in Namibia and Botswana in 2016. Paper Making

Paper Apothecary will be offering a Paper Making make'n'take! We will have a station set up with multiple paper pulp bins, and each student will pull as many sheets as they would like! The pick up of the paper will be the following day as the paper will need a full night to dry!

Seed Ball Making Workshop

Spread the wildflower love with this hands-on workshop! Learn how to combine flower seeds, compost, clay, and water to create seed balls (sometimes called seed bombs). They offer an easy way to distribute native plant seeds into the natural environment: along roadsides, in vacant lots and neglected landscapes, or in your own flower beds. We’ll be discussing the importance of native flowering plants, which support native pollinators and sustain local biodiversity. The flowers in the seed mix were specifically selected for their ecosystem benefits. All materials will be provided and you will take home your own handmade seed balls.

Lee Walsh is a Master Gardener based in Tecumseh, Michigan. She has a special interest in native plants that support native pollinators and birds, and is passionate about teaching others to garden with biodiversity in mind. In spring 2022, she spearheaded the installation of a 400-square foot native-plant rain garden at First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. She is also a board member of ReTree Tecumseh, a grassroots organization that plants trees on public property in the city.

Natural Plant Dying

An intro into the world of dying fiber with plants! We will go over some of the basic steps and learn a few different techniques. There will be 3 colors that we will be working with to transform cotton bandanas.

Jane McLemore is a Native Michigan plant lady, with a special love for exploring natural eco dying.
